Ashton Kutcher speaks out after fans said he looked 'awkward' on red carpet ... trends now
He was mocked by fans after looking supremely awkward standing next to his costar Reese Witherspoon at the premiere of their new romantic comedy Your Place Or Mine last week.
And now Ashton Kutcher is explaining his awkward lack of connection from his costar and also defending himself.
While dropping by the Chicks In The Office podcast, the 45-year-old actor made it sound as if there was no way for him to win with social media users who poked fun at how unfriendly he looked around Witherspoon.
'Here’s the thing: if I put my arm around her, and was like all friendly with her, I’d be having an affair with her,' he explained. 'Like, the rumor would be that I’m having an affair with her.'
His costar previously revealed that his wife Mila Kunis had even emailed the two of them to joke that they looked 'so awkward' together on the red carpet.

'If I stand next to her and put my hands in my pockets so there’s no chance that that could be the rumor, then the rumor is we don’t like each other,' Kutcher continued in an advance clip from his podcast appearance.
He also shared the anecdote about Kunis poking fun of the two stars once she saw the red carpet photos.
'My wife called me. She texted Reese and I together and said, "Guys, you gotta, like… act like you like each other."'
