The new show, which sees a group of five comedians attempt to complete a series of challenges, is a hit. Twitter erupted with excited fans on Thursday who couldn't get enough of the local show, hosted by controversial funnyman Tom Gleeson. Fans have gone wild over Taskmaster. 'Great job Taskmaster great host, co-host and team for season 1. I reckon there should be an 'ashes' series Aust Vs UK: Taskmaster in the next few years,' another wrote. Viewers were crazy at the series with them clearly finding the quirky format enjoyable Yet another enjoyed the episode. 'Much better episode of Taskmaster tonight. Seems like the flow of the show is better with better banter from everyone,' they wrote. 'The lower fake audience laughter also makes a difference.' The series sees a group of five comedians attempt to complete a series of hard-to-complete and silly challenges. The Project's Tom Cashman starred alongside Utopia's Luke McGregor and Nina Oyama, Jimmy Rees, and stand-up favourites Julia Morris and Danielle Walker. Based on a hit U.K. show, Variety Australia reports that the format has been sold to 12 countries including New Zealand, Sweden, and Denmark. One of the challenges included the cast struggling to sink a bowling ball sitting on a pontoon It also has a YouTube channel, an app and a board game. A U.S. version, launched in 2018 by the Comedy Channel, failed to take off with viewers and was axed after one season. It was later re-launched in 2020 on CW, but was pulled from the air after only one episode because of poor ratings. Taskmaster is a hit in the UK but failed to get a steady audience in the US.
