Britney Spears' family and friends staged failed INTERVENTION due to 'concerns ... trends now

Britney Spears' family and friends reportedly staged an intervention this week due to concerns 'she would die' over escalating substance abuse and mental health issues.

TMZ reports those close to the 41-year-old singer - who sparked concern after a 'manic' restaurant episode last month - became alarmed by her 'erratic, volatile' behavior, due to taking medications that 'hype her up' and cause her to 'fly off the handle' regularly.

They claim the pop icon has not been taking medication that would stabilize her moods - leading them to rent a house in the LA for 'several months' without Britney's knowledge for an intervention. One source told the publication: 'I'm afraid she's gonna die.'

It was planned to take Britney to the house where her husband Sam Asghari, 28, her manager, doctors and an interventionist would be waiting on Tuesday - with Britney set to receive medical treatment and psychological counseling for two months.

However, the singer is said to have become 'somewhat aware' of the plan and the intervention was scrapped.

Britney is said to have agreed to meet with a doctor on Wednesday, which 'went well.'

DailyMail.com has contacted Britney Spears' representatives for comment.

It comes after the police were called to perform a welfare check on the pop diva last month, after she shut down her Instagram page, sparking concerns from fans who contacted authorities to check on her well-being.

Spears recently said she's doing fine after the welfare check: 'I’m not having a breakdown … I am who I am and moving forward in my life, I have never felt better!!!' the Grammy-winning singer said Sunday in a post on the account, which she has reinstated after deleting it.

The Till The World Ends performer said of the social media account, 'Yes I took my Instagram down and now it’s backup because I can!!!'

Spears said she's 'not this girl or that girl' but rather River Red, and happily freed from the constraints of the conservatorship her father presided over until 2021.

'Being able to volumize my voice in a world where I lost my rights … for 15 years … gives me an opportunity to succeed !!!' the Oops!... I Did It Again vocalist said.

The Womanizer songstress said she's 'still learning this no rules thing' and feels 'younger and in awe' in her life.

'Unfortunately I’m boring as hell and drink hot chocolate at night!!!' she said. 'I’ve waited nearly 15 years to drink alcohol only to realize I hate it!!! It makes me sad and I feel bloated, although food tastes better.'

The singer spoke out after a source exclusively told DailyMail.com Friday that Spears is 'staying positive and doing okay' after a police welfare check left her 'freaked out' last week.

She's doing okay,' a source close to Spears tells DailyMail.com.

'She's navigating this new life, finishing her book. It's a process but [she's] getting there.'

'The fans calling the cops freaked her out for sure but she's staying positive.'

Britney hit back after the police visit in a Twitter post and stressed that police never 'entered' her house and stayed at her gate - but said the situation went 'a little too far.'

Fans of the singer have lately expressed even more concern than usual after she was seen apparently having a 'manic' meltdown at a restaurant last month with her husband.

'As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls,' she began. 'I love and adore my fans this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.

She clarified that, 'The police never entered my home,' and they apparently left shortly after arriving at her gate after finding 'no issue.'

But the run-in with law enforcement over the 'prank phone calls' still left her feeling accosted.

'This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media,' she continued.

Spears seemed to urge her fans to take a more distanced, respectful approach to her as she concluded her statement.

'During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B.'
