The Married At First Sight experts grilled Shannon Adams (pictured) on Sunday after he admitted he slept with his ex just a week before joining the social experiment Sitting on the couch for the first commitment ceremony of the season, Shannon said: 'I'm not going to sugarcoat anything. I think I still might be in love with my ex.' When pressed by the experts on whether he was definitely still in love with his ex or if he was just unsure of his feelings, Shannon repeated: 'I think I might be.' Expert Mel Shilling took little pity on the groom and asked him if it was true he had been 'intimate' with his ex just a week before the experiment. 'However, I am feeling really optimistic about it as well because it's made me realise a lot of things like she [Caitlin] is such a great person, she has such a great heart.' Mel clearly wasn't buying it, as she interrupted to remind him of the consequences of what he was saying. She said he had just 'dropped a massive bomb' on Caitlin and that she deserved better than 'crumbs' of affection from her partner. She said: 'I have been in this exact same position before in my last relationship. It started with me seeing a guy that I fell in love with and he said he was finished with his ex but then he was seeing her behind my back, so it is something I promised I would never go through again. 'So it's like being slapped with all my traumas all at once. It was very hard to digest.' Caitlin (pictured on MAFS last week) remained calm as it wasn't the first time she had heard Shannon speak about his history with his ex, but she was still clearly upset When asked if she believes Shannon can leave behind his feelings for his ex, she said: 'I think Shannon really wants to.' However, relationship expert John Aiken was scornful of Shannon's behaviour. He said it was inappropriate to be sleeping with someone so soon before joining the experiment - adding that this criticism also applied to fellow groom Harrison Boon. John then told Harrison that if he didn't realise dating someone right up until tying the knot on MAFS was wrong, that's a big problem in itself. Turning his attention to Shannon, John said he needed to decide if he really wanted to stay in the experiment.
