Jena Malone revealed that she had been sexually assaulted while filming the Hunger Games series in an Instagram post from Wednesday.

The post, which included a sun-drenched photo of her taken in the French countryside after wrapping on the popular dystopian film series, featured a lengthy caption detailing the difficult time in her life.

The 38-year-old actress — who came out as pansexual last year — steered clear of naming the person who allegedly assaulted her, as they had engaged in 'restorative justice' to heal to help her heal.

Malone was featured in the Hunger Games sequels Catching Fire and the two-part Mockingjay as Johanna Mason.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Malone's representatives for comment.

'We were shooting in a beautiful estate in the countryside of France and I asked the driver to let me out in this field so I could cry and capture this moment,' she continued. 'Even tho this time in Paris was extremely hard for me , was going thru a bad break up and also was sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with , I was so full of gratitude for this project, the people I became close with and this amazing part I got to play [sic].'

She called the events 'a swirling mix of emotions' that she was 'only now just learning to sort thru [sic].'

'I wish it wasn’t tied to such a traumatic event for me but that is the real wildness of life I I guess. How to hold the chaos with the beauty,' Malone wrote.

She added more detail about the assault, claiming she and the person who assaulted her had found a way to move on privately, rather than getting police involved.

'I’ve worked very hard to heal and learn thru restorative justice , how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself. It’s been hard to talk about the hunger games and [her character] Johanna Mason without feeling the sharpness of this moment in time but I’m ready to move thru it and reclaim the joy and accomplishment I felt [sic],' she
