RuPaul spoke about ongoing legislation aimed at the drag queen community in an Instagram clip on Wednesday.

The iconic drag queen, 62, took to the social media site after Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed into law a bill that prohibits 'adult cabaret performances' in the state, including shows featuring 'male or female impersonators.'

The San Diego-born entertainer called the controversial legal measure a 'classic distraction technique' from politicians designed to deflect attention from their incompetency at handling the actual issues of importance voters are concerned with.

'Hey, look over there! A classic distraction technique, distracting us away from the real issues that they were voted into office to focus on: jobs, healthcare, keeping our children safe from harm at their own school,' the entertainer said. 'But we know that bullies are incompetent at solving real issues.'

The RuPaul's Drag Race host continued, 'They look for easy targets so they can give the impression of being effective; they think our love, our light, our laughter and our joy are signs of weakness - but they're wrong, because that is our strength.'
