The trailer for the second season of the hit Showtime thriller-drama series Yellowjackets was released on the network's official YouTube channel on Thursday morning.

The clip showcased the actions of a group of plane crash survivors struggling to make it through a particularly harsh winter while they subsequently deal with the ramifications of their actions as adults.

The program, which was preceded by a teaser, is currently set to make its debut later this month. 

The trailer began with the young version of Vanessa Palmer, played by Liv Hewson, addressing a group of stranded children with: 'Once upon a time, there was a place called the wilderness. It was beautiful, but it was also violent and misunderstood.'

After several girls become lost in a snowy forest, the character added that the wilderness 'waited to befriend whoever arrived.'

While the teenagers make their way through a harsh landscape, the older version of Lottie Matthews, played by Simone Kessell, 'I thought we left it there when we were rescued, but now I realize we brought it back with us.' 

After Shauna Shipman, played by Melanie Lynskey, arms herself while walking through a garage, Misty Quigley, portrayed by Christina Ricci, expresses that one of her former classmates is 'hiding something.'

Walter, played by Elijah Wood, then tells her that 'everybody's hiding something,' after which Shauna is confronted with an image of her former partner Adam, whom she previously murdered.

As several of the characters comfort one another, Natalie Scatorccio, portrayed by Juliette Lewis, tells Quigley that they should turn to Lottie, who was 'committed in a mental institution in
