Scream VI could SET new franchise box office record on opening weekend trends now
Scream VI has a chance to set a franchise best domestic box office record over its opening weekend, with the hotly- anticipated film aiming for $35million + takings.
The new film, which stars Courteney Cox, Jenna Ortega and Hayden Panettiere, is due to be released on March 10, and may beat the record held by 2000's Scream 3, which raked in $34.7 million on its debut.
2022's Scream made $30million on its domestic opening, and with much fanfare around the franchise's latest offering, Scream VI could surpass that record.
The latest film comes 26 years after the original and transports the action from Woodsboro to the mean streets of New York.
The offical synopsis reads: 'Four survivors of the Ghostface murders leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start in New York City'.
