The Top Gun actor pipped funnyman Robin Williams to the No 1 spot in a poll for Mothering Sunday.
Showcase Cinemas asked 2,000 of them to pick the sexiest male actors of all time and their favourite film.
Cruise, 60, gained the most votes, while The Sound Of Music, which stars Julie Andrews and came out in 1965, was named as the most-loved movie.
