Billie Shepherd told how she would break down in tears when her son Arthur began 'smothering' her and her baby daughter Margot after she was born.

The Family Diaries star, 32, welcomed her youngest daughter Margot into the world in December, and she has revealed how her eldest Nelly, eight, and son Arthur, six, have adjusted to the new arrival.

Discussing how the siblings have gelled, she said: 'I think what it was in those early days, you've got this tiny little newborn, they're so fragile and there was so much illness around the time she was born, I felt so protective over her.

'Because I was a bit like, "Oh, careful!" it made him go the opposite way. He was so full on with her.

'When I look back at it, at the time I was having all the emotions of a newborn and it was probably more me just being overprotective.

'It was his way of trying to show his love and affection, but sometimes it was a bit too much. He'd do things like breathe on her, I knew one day I'd laugh about it, but at the time it would make me cry.'

Billie went on to detail how she thinks her little boy felt a bit 'pushed out' when she welcomed Margot, because he had always been the baby of the family.

She explained that he was feeling jealous and had become particularly attached to her when she was pregnant with her third child.

In contrast, Nelly, who is used to playing the role of big sister, has adjusted like a duck to water and Billie said she has been 'really good' with little Margot.

She explained how Nelly 'wasn't as fussed in the beginning' but she now calls on her daughter to keep an eye on Margot when she leaves the room for a moment.

It comes after Billie said she would rather sleep alone with her three-month-old daughter than her husband as she discussed life as a busy mum-of-three.

She revealed it's like 'musical beds' in their household and admitted that she often turfs out Greg for a better nights sleep.

Billie explained: 'As she's so tiny, I said to Greg, I’d rather be in the bed with her on my own.

'I find I sleep better and she sleeps better when it’s just us two – but last night Greg was in the bed.'

Billie added: 'It is a bit like musical beds in our house. You just do what you’ve got to do sometimes.'

The TV personality and Greg are parents also parents to Nelly, eight, and a son Arthur, five.

The interview was published days after Billie and her sister Sam broke their online silence following former friend Ferne McCann telling James Argent
