J. Cole said he was caught smoking cigarettes when he was just six-years-old.
The rap artist, 38, appeared Tuesday on the "Lead By Example podcast with Bob Myers, where he opened up about how the habit came to be at such a young age.
'I was smoking cigarettes regularly around the neighborhood,' said J. Cole, who was born in Frankfurt, Germany and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He added that he was 'was always hanging around the older kids in the neighborhood' who were friends with his older brother.
'They were smoking,' he said. 'And I was young and fearless and trying to be cool. So, it was like, "Oh, y'all smoking - let me see that."'
