Gamemaster reality show which sees geeks battle it out for $1million prize ... trends now
After more than three years of COVID-19 pandemic-related delays, the long-awaited esports competition series Gamemaster is slated to debut this summer on Amazon Prime Video.
Filming is finally slated to begin this spring in Atlanta, following 12 elite gamers who will compete for the $1 million prize... which has grown tenfold from the original $100,000 offering.
The series was originally set to be showcased at the 2020 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, but the festival was shut down due to COVID-19 just days before.
Wheaton, the 50-year-old former child star of hits like Stand By Me, and showrunner Jacquie Dincauze (The Amazing Race) have still remained fully committed to the series despite three years of delays, DailyMail.com can reveal.
Not only will the gamers be vying for the inaugural title of Gamemaster and the $1 million prize, but also for an elite gaming and streaming system provided by AMD, Micro Center and Xidax.

Gamemaster was one of hundreds of film and TV productions shuttered due to the pandemic, but now it's back and bigger than ever.
'The pandemic started shuttering productions and events around the world just weeks before we were scheduled to film,' said series creator and executive producer John Colp.

The series will follow 12 of the best amateur gamers from the US who will compete in 25 games over 10 episodes to find the ultimate Gamemaster.
Eighteen game developers from around the world have worked with creators to develop specific challenges in new titles and classic, beloved games.
For the first time in a competitive gaming series, the contestants will play PC, console and mobile games.
