Jennifer Lopez recently revealed that she wakes up 4.45am in order to find the time to fit a work out into her hectic schedule because of how important fitness is to her.

And JLo isn't the only celebrity who gets up at dawn in order to work on their perfect physiques, after other stars including Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and the Kardashians revealed their crazy work out schedules.

Dwayne, 50, previously revealed that he only needs between three and five hours sleep and his day begins at 3.30am where he will complete a cardio session.

Meanwhile fellow fitness enthusiast Mark, 51, shocked fans when he revealed he gets up at 2.30am to pray and enjoy a supplement drink before an early morning workout - however he now enjoys a 'lie in' until 3.30 between 4am.

While she isn't up quite as early, Kim Kardashian is another celebrity who definitely doesn't hit the snooze button, after previously revealing she sets her alarm for 5.45am so she can be ready for her 6am work out.

Her daughter Khloe, who often shares the results of her gruelling sessions on social media, has the earliest work out in the family at she kicks it off at around 5am.

Following Jennifer's revelation about her crack of dawn workout, we take a look at the celebrity craze for early morning exercise and how beneficial it actually is.

JLO'S WORK OUT SCHEDULE

Jennifer, 53, claimed that she likes to break a sweat first thing in the morning, often before 5am while it is still dark outside and the rest of the world has woken up.

She told Us Weekly: 'I try to make good choices and balance my time.'

JLo explained how exercise is a 'motivating factor' in her life and she tries to keep pushing her limits and maintaining her athleticism.

The actress revealed that part of her regime is maintaining her mental health, adding: 'I think there's a positive correlation between exercise and mental health,'

She said: 'I'm always evolving and looking for things that keep me excited and motivated. I'm not afraid to challenge myself, so I'm open to pushing myself, which is what I'm doing right now as I rehearse for my new album, coming out this summer.'

The star has done kickboxing, circuit training, core work, lunges, and burpees.

Her personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, says that Lopez takes her training very seriously, no matter the activity.

TRAIN LIKE DWAYNE

Dwayne regularly begins his day at 3.30am to cram in plenty of work outs and previously admitted he can function on as little as three hours sleep.

The actor starts off with a light cardio workout, which is often a run but if the weather is bad he will hit the elliptical machine at home.

If it's raining outdoors, he'll get his cardio in on the elliptical machine at home while sipping on coffee and catching up on the news.

He also uses this time to enjoy a coffee and catch up on the news.

Dwayne says that he prefers to begin the day this way because a cardio session 'anchors' him for the day, as opposed to a high-octane session.

However if he knows he doesn't have time for a later work out due to a busy schedule, he will lift weights in the morning instead.

The Rock works out for a couple of hours in the afternoon and also tries to fit in an evening session as well.
