Alexandra Burke has no issues with boyfriend Darren Randolph leaving her alone ... trends now

Alexandra Burke admits she has no issues with her footballer boyfriend Darren Randolph moving clubs and leaving her alone to raise their baby. 

The singer, 34, told MailOnline that she only sees partner Darren, 35, twice a week after the goalkeeper joined Bournemouth in January from Premier League rivals West Ham United. 

Former X Factor winner Alexandra lives in Hertfordshire with her eight-month-old baby, whose gender and name remains unknown because the couple have chosen to keep their child's identity private.

In an exclusive interview, the West End star says while its 'tricky' with Darren living and working away, she's learned to 'adapt' and becoming a mum for the first-time last year has shown her just how 'amazing' women are.

She said: 'Whether it's about children or your life in general, women just adapt. No shade to men, I think men are great… but women oh my God we make milk for crying out loud!'

She explained: 'My partner just moved away to Bournemouth bless him, so he isn't really here. It makes things really tricky for me, but we make it work.

'He comes home as and when he can which is roughly maybe twice a week at the most. I don't like him driving too much, I sound like a bit of a mum, but I don't like him driving when he's training, and he's exhausted.

'It isn't terrible because it's only two hours away and I love Bournemouth and where he's staying. It would be worse if he was five away hours.

'We make it work and it's not forever and all I care about is supporting his career and standing by him when he makes these decisions.'

Alexandra sparked speculation that she had secretly married Darren after calling him 'hubby' on Instagram last week.

But she confirmed to MailOnline the couple at yet to be engaged and 'wifey' and 'hubby' are merely their pet names for each other.

She said: 'Let me be very clear about this… I called him 'hubby' because he calls me 'wifey' and those are just nicknames for each other.

'We need to remind him to put a ring on it. It's just a nickname but maybe I made a mistake calling him that. It's his name in my phone so I don't know what to say to people! There's no rush, when it's meant to happen it will happen.'

The star, who gave birth to her first baby in July and returned to work two months later, admits she's struggled balancing her career with motherhood after she started gigging when she was nine years old so working is all she's ever known. 

She said: 'Everything a woman's body goes through is incredible, so I've had to take a minute recently just to talk to myself and say 'Alex, chill, enjoy this moment now with your baby' because they're only getting older.

'In a few months' time they are already turning one and I love being pregnant, I love being a mum and would do it all again in a heartbeat, but I have to learn to balance.

'I have been trying to juggle things if I'm honest with you. I went back to work two months after giving birth and that was quite intense.

'Someone said to me the other day that I'm crazy not to have taken a year off for maternity leave.

'If you do have the choice to take a year off then that's fantastic but me personally, I don't think I could sit down for a year… I love the idea of taking a year off, but I love my job.'

Alexandra, who's from Islington, found fame in 2008 when she won the X Factor at the age of 19 and performed a duet with superstar Beyoncé during the final.
