Paul Cattermole reportedly said he was 'buzzing' for the S Club 7 reunion in an upbeat conversation just days before his death.

The pop icon is said to have told a fan of his excitement to take to the stage with his bandmates once again, as they planned their 25th anniversary tour.

It was revealed this week that Paul was found dead at his home in Dorset on  Thursday, April 6, at the age of 46.

And it came as the singer, who rose to fame in group S Club 7, had returned to the limelight in recent months while gearing up to join his bandmates once again for the reunion tour later this year.

According to The Sun, Paul was happy and upbeat while looking forward to the future in one of his last conversations with a fan.

A source, who claimed to have chatted with Paul just days before the tragedy, explained to the publication: 'He told me the band were going back on tour and couldn’t hide how excited he was about it.

'He was beaming when he said, "I’m going to smash it — it will be brilliant!"'

In the last pictures of the singer, he was seen in high spirits while enjoying a countryside walk - smiling and dancing for the outing.

Paul was preparing to tour again this year with former bandmates Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt, and Rachel Stevens.

And the new reports come as the band members have vowed that their 25th anniversary tour will still go ahead and is likely to include a tribute to Paul.

Sources close to the band say while it is too early to publicly make a decision over how their 11 concerts will proceed, they want them to take place because the late singer was so excited about them.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Paul was one of the first of the seven stars to agree to take part in the reunion shows.

One insider said: 'Paul was so excited, though he seemed awkward on the outside he was looking forward to reliving some of the old, happy times with the group.

'That's why there are some members of S Club 7 who are determined the tour goes on. To them, it seems the perfect way to pay tribute to him.

'There have been some meetings and some of the group are inconsolable, they are in pieces. It has all come as such a big shock to them.'

Cattermole was found at his Dorset home last Thursday morning and was pronounced dead in the afternoon, his family said on Friday.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

His ex-girlfriend and fellow S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt was said to be 'in bits' after she was told the news by the band's management team.

In a joint statement on Friday, Cattermole's family and S Club 7 said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

'Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

'While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul's family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.'

The Mail can reveal that on Friday morning, a member of the group's manager Simon Fuller's team called the six members - Ms Spearritt, 42, Rachel Stevens, 44, Tina Barrett, 46, Jon Lee, 40, Jo O'Meara, 43, and Bradley McIntosh, 41 - to tell them the news.

The source added: 'Hannah couldn't even speak of the news, her boyfriend has been having the conversations that need to be had.

'She is inconsolable, this has come out of nowhere and she is simply numb.'

Mr Fuller, who launched the band in 1998 and was heading up the forthcoming reunion tour, was said to be 'deeply upset' at the news.

Meanwhile, the band paid tribute to Cattermole on social media.

They posted a black and white photograph of the singer in the band's heyday and wrote: 'We are
