In a truly inspirational story, Paul Alex reveals how he went from a Police Detective to a community-minded entrepreneur - with no regrets two years on.

The first business Paul Alex started when he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey, ATMTogether, has performed exceptionally well and netted a whopping $14 million in revenue in just over two years.

The second business he started, Merchant Automation, is also showing strong signs of growth. His new business idea allows merchants to stop paying credit card processing fees. 

Paul Alex has seen the business accrue a million dollars in revenue in the five weeks since starting it. Paul Alex's story is one of beating the odds. 

When he was young, words like 'entrepreneur' or even 'businessman' were well beyond what he could experience. He grew up in a family of people who worked for minimum wage.

Even in his age group, among his friends, working nine-to-five and partying on the weekends was the way to go. 

He was brought up to work hard, but working for himself was never a goal he was taught. That, however, hasn't stopped him from wanting to become rich one day. At the very least, someone who doesn't have to work all the time.

He explains: 'My mom was always working, and so was my stepdad. So, I barely got to see my parents. And I remember growing up, I felt that, when I have kids, I'm going to make sure I'm there to see them...

'And I don't blame my parents at all. I love them to death. But at the end of the day, it's just what they don't know is what they don't know.'

His lack of guidance in terms of business and his life options could have been clearer to Paul Alex. It was so profound that even today, he makes sure to help kids in his community somehow.

So while MerchantAutomation was taking off, Paul supported It's All About the Kids, a San Diego charity, with a $100,000 dollar donation during the holidays.

What Paul Alex lacked in guidance and role models, he more than made up in spirit. He was a kid who'd sell his old toys to raise capital so he could buy new toys.

He sounds like a clear-cut example of a kid who knows that no one else will
