Tom Grennan has revealed The Libertine's star Pete Doherty saved him from drugs at the start of his music career.

The singer, 27, who burst onto the music scene back in 2016 and has since released two albums, told Music Week he was in a 'bad place' before the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: 'Running up to the pandemic I was in a bad way. I was very good at either hiding being off my face or just cracking on being high.

'I don't know whether it was pressure, or a bit of imposter syndrome, also a bit of ego and success.

'I had the wrong people around me, people I thought were my friends but they weren't they were just using me for a place to stay or to lend them money.

Tom's manager received a call from Pete's band The Libertine's who thought he was 'out of control'.

That's when the singer's manager realised he had a problem and needed to get help.

Despite his rowdy past, which even saw him serve two months in prison, Pete is now clean and enjoying life in France with his wife Katia de Vidas.

The Libertines frontman, 43, who has now been clean for more than two years, previously credited musician Frédéric Lo for helping him quit drugs.

Tom previously opened up about his battles with alcohol-induced anxiety which led him to cut down on how much he drinks

He told The Sun: 'In lockdown I stopped drinking. Now I only have a few occasionally, maybe two after the gig.

“I don’t like the anxiety the next day. I wake up and I feel dread. Beer fear, I suppose.”

Tom recently dropped new track How Does It Feel Now from his upcoming third album.

Earlier this year, Grennan headed out on a 10-date arena tour around the UK in support of his new album, and was praised for his efforts to make tickets for his 2023 tour as low as possible.

He said he thinks artists keeping their ticket sales high during the cost of living crisis are 'out of order'.

The Little Bit Of Love singer has kept his prices at an affordable rate for his 2022-2023 Concert
