The Dimbleby family dominated UK current affairs programmes for more than 70 years – and now the latest family member has made his on-screen debut.

Fred Dimbleby, 25, presented his first live piece to camera for ITV News in the Channel Islands last week, following in the footsteps of father David, uncle Jonathan and grandfather Richard.

The Dimblebys' broadcasting dynasty started with Richard, who joined the BBC in 1936 as its first frontline radio reporter. During the Second World War, he became its first war correspondent.

By the 1950s, he was known as 'the voice of the BBC', commentating for television at the Coronation in 1953 and presenting the flagship current affairs show, Panorama, from 1955 until his death in 1965. His four children included David and Jonathan, who
