The Color Purple first official trailer: Fantasia Barrino Taylor soars trends now
A trailer for the highly anticipated movie musical version of the beloved classic film The Color Purple was shared on Monday afternoon.
The movie, which is directed by Blitz Bazawule, has big-name producers Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg behind it.
And there is an impressive cast.
American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino is reprising her Broadway role as Celie Harris Johnson with Phylicia Mpasi as the young Celie.
Ciara is Nettie Harris and Halle Bailey of The Little Mermaid fame is young Nettie.
Rounding out the cast are Taraji P Henson as the flamboyant blues singer Shug Avery, Danielle Brooks as Sofia, H.E.R. as Mary Agnes (Squeak) and Corey Hawkins as Harpo Johnson.
