MasterChef viewers slammed the chefs for cooking 'small' portions as they served 'ravenous firefighters' during the latest episode on Tuesday evening. 

The BBC cooks were split into two teams and were tasked to prepare a main course and dessert for 120 emergency service responders at a firefighter college. 

The eight hopefuls, who were split into a blue team, who cooked a roasted cod in a thai coconut broth, and the red team, who created a venison wellington. 

The teams had a number of stressful moments throughout the episode but worked together to complete the task and serve up the dishes.  

However, BBC fans pointed out that the meals would not fill the starving firefighters and joked they would 'be straight down to McDonald's'.
