Rose Byrne's new Apple TV+ series, Platonic, has been a hit with audiences and critics alike.

But many American viewers have been left confused by the Aussie star's accent, which has become a mix of American and Australian over the many years the Sydney-born actress has spent working in the United States.

In the comedy, in which the 43-year-old stars alongside Seth Rogan, Rose uses her natural accent, unlike the bulk of her roles where she has starred as an American character.

After the series premiered this week, slews of viewers stateside took to Twitter to share their confusion over how the actress speaks.

'I'm so thrown off by Rose Byrne's accent. Why does it keep changing mid-sentence?' one person asked.

'Trying to watch Platonic and its so distracting how Rose Byrne's accent keeps flip-flopping between American and Australian' tweeted another.

'Why pray tell does Byrne only have an American accent 60% of the time? So odd! Do you think actors know when they lapse back into their own accents?' said another.

'I want to watch Platonic but I get too distracted by Rose Byrne's accent jumping back and forth' someone else chimed in.

'What is happening with Rose Byrne's accent in Platonic? Why is it switching every other sentence? I'm super distracted' one more tweeted.
