Ezra Miller will return for The Flash if entertainment conglomerate Warner Bros. plans to make a sequel, filmmaker Andy Muschietti revealed.

During an upcoming episode of The Discourse podcast, the film's director said he would like the 30-year-old actor — who goes by they/them pronouns — to reprise the superhero role in a potential sequel.

After the Fantastic Beasts alum was faced various legal troubles and serious allegations in the past year, there was serious doubt if the debut film would even be released.

It has since been confirmed that the film will premiere in theaters on June 16, and now Muschietti said there might even be a sequel, according to The Playlist.

If that happens, the director said he has no plans to recast the role and expects to see Miller return as Barry Allen.

Previously, it was revealed that a script for the sequel had already been written, but the follow-up film would be dependent on The Flash's box office performances as well as Miller's personal issues.

On the topic of the sequel in a podcast episode that is expected to be released closer to the premiere of the film, Muschietti vouched for Miller.

'If [a sequel] happens, yes, [Ezra would play The Flash],' he said. 'I don't think there's anyone that can play that character as well as they did.'

He continued: 'The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys — it feels like a character that was made for them.'

His producing partner, Barbara Muschietti, also raved about Miller's performance and expressed her desire for them to reprise their role in the DC Universe.

'In principal photography, Ezra was brilliant and the most committed and the most professional [actor].

'Ezra gave everything for this role — physically, creatively, emotionally,' she continued. 'They were absolutely supreme.'

Early reactions to the film also appear to cosign the sentiment.

The Playlist reported that CinemaCon audiences that got a first look at the upcoming film raved and called The Flash 'tremendous'.

Despite the critical acclaim of the franchise films, however, many people are still concerned with the disturbing allegations and Miller's multiple arrest charges.

Just weeks after the first public screening of The Flash — where critics called it one of the best superhero movies ever — the film's production designer made another bold claim.

Production designer Paul Austerberry — who won an Oscar for his work on Best Picture winner The Shape of Water — opened up on the film in an interview with CBC News in April.

While the movie has been earning rave reviews, others are still troubled by Warner Bros. sticking with Miller after a slew of legal troubles.

They had faced charges of assault and
