Helen Flanagan has been mum shamed for her latest Instagram post about her toddler son Charlie.

The mother of three, who split from her children's father Scott Sinclair last year, shared sweet photos of herself and her youngest, two-year-old Charlie, on Tuesday as she revealed he had been having 'off the scale tantrums'.

Helen, 32, shared a series of photos as she shared kisses with Charlie, joking in the caption that she was 'trying to get pictures with my two year old.'

The post was soon flooded with comments with some criticising Helen's parenting, asking: 'Why do you constantly ask your kids for kiss after kiss...like it's not normal plus the way you talk to them is like you are talking to puppies.'

'You need to act like there mum...they need tough love and disaplin [sic]' the commenter continued.

Another asked: 'Have you ever thought they don't want photos and kisses all the time. I've never known anyone to ask their kids for kiss after kiss ???'

Helen's fans rushed to defend her against the mum shaming comments, with one pointing out: 'Sod off I ask for kisses a lot when they r wee cos soon enough they r teenager and u get nothing,'

'It’s a parenting style and is completely okay,' agreed another.

'They are only little once, not all kids need tough love,' read another supportive comment.

Others argued that Helen was only sharing a tiny snippet of her day online, with one supporter writing: 'We see 2 seconds on Instagram. How do we know she isn’t playing with him the rest of the time. Also most celebrities get paid to use instagram.'

'You do realise that this is a photo taken in a few seconds out of a day. So the other 23hours plus you have no idea about. Shes a loving Mum, the world needs more people like her. Stop putting women/Mothers down,' wrote another.

Helen later hit back at the comments, reposting one which criticised her for co-sleeping with her daughter Delilah, five, and suggesting she will 'regret' her parenting style.

'Very strange some comments on Instagram,' Helen wrote. 'As a mum I want my kids to feel really loved and happy and safe and I'm affectionate and I co sleep because that's how Delilah is happier and Don't want her to cry, she will grow out of it.'

She shared more of the cruel messages, commenting 'Vile comments. I just love my kids.'

Reality star Helen, who recently appeared on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, is also mum to daughter Matilda, seven with her ex Scott, 32, who she split from last year after 13 years together.

The former Coronation Street actress recently returned from a lavish trip to the Spanish island, where she documented herself partying it up at swanky day club O Beach and other party hotspots.
