Matt Shirvington reveals predecessor Kochie texted him at 1:11am just days ... trends now

David 'Kochie' Koch hung up his lapel mic as Sunrise host last Friday.

But his successor Matt Shirvington has revealed that the 67-year-old is still keeping close tabs on the show, texting himself and fellow host Nat Barr at 1:11am on Friday morning with an urgent message. 

'Nat and I got a text last night,' Shirvo told Mark Beretta, before adding that it was a request to 'pass a message' along to the sports presenter.

Shirvo then revealed the message was to gloat that Port Adelaide's AFL team, the Power, had notched up an 11th straight win. 

Koch serves as chairman of the football club, which now sits atop the AFL ladder following the win.
