Succession star Sarah Snook leads the Australian charge at 2023 Emmy nominations alongside Elizabeth Debicki and Murray Bartlett

Sarah Snook will led the charge for Australian talent at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards after being nominated in the category of Best Actress for her work in Succession this week. 

The Sydney-born star, who portrays Siobhan Roy in the HBO program, will compete for the award against Bad Sisters' Sharon Horgan, Yellowjackets' Melanie Lynskey, The Handmaid's Tale's Elisabeth Moss, The Last of Us' Bella Ramsey and The Diplomat's Keri Russell.

Also representing Australia is actor Murray Bartlett, who has received two nominations: one for his supporting role in Welcome to Chippendales, and another for his guest appearance in HBO series The Last of Us. 

Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has meanwhile been nominated in the category of Supporting Actress In A drama Series thanks to her critically-acclaimed portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown.

She is vying for the award against The White Lotus stars Jennifer Coolidge, Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza and Simona Tabasco; as well as Better Call Saul's Rhea Seehorn and Succession's J. Smith-Cameron.

Australian actress Anna Torv has also scored a nomination for her guest appearance in The Last of Us. 

Several Australians have also been nominated in commercial categories, incluidng Australian directors Kim Gehrig and Fletcher Moules for their work on Apple commercial The Greatest and animated music special Entergalactic, respectively. 

Australian composer Allyson Newman has been nominated for her work on the series The L Word: Generation Q.
