Sonia Kruger took home the biggest prize in Australian television this week when she was awarded the Gold Logie.

However that doesn't mean the 57-year-old is necessarily comfortable with her many high profile TV hosting roles, and still suffers nerves while on air.

Speaking to TV Tonight after her Logies win, Sonia admitted she nearly passed out because she was so nervous for one of the contestants on The Voice

'There was a moment at the end of the Blind Auditions I actually thought I might faint on stage, because there was so much suspense involved,' she said.

In addition to Seven's hit talent show, Kruger also hosts Big Brother Australia and Dancing With The Stars.

'I actually think I stopped breathing and I almost blacked out. That's a true story. That, and I was probably a little bit exhausted.

'I started to feel like 'I think I'm gonna faint' and that's never happened to me on stage before, but it was a really tense, suspenseful moment. I had no idea what was going to happen, but there was so much riding on it for this particular person.'

After Sonia won the Gold Logie last Sunday night, some viewers flocked to Twitter to slam the decision.

Many were unhappy that she received such a coveted award after the comments she made about Muslim immigration seven years ago.

At the time, Sonia called for Australia to stop Muslim immigration because she wants to 'feel safe'.

During a fiery Today show panel discussion, the TV host argued there is a correlation between the number of Muslims in a country and the number of terrorist attacks.

'Personally, I would like to see it stop now for Australia because I want to feel safe as all of our citizens do when we go out to celebrate Australia Day,' she said.

The television host said she had 'a lot of very good friends' who were Muslims and peace-loving, beautiful people. 'But there are fanatics.'

Sonia's remarks sparked fierce debate on social media, with several viewers branding them as divisive.

In response, the TV star said 'it was vital to discuss these issues without automatically being labelled racist'.

Many did not forget the furore when she took home the Gold Logie on Sunday evening.

'What a truly dark day it is for television in Australia. Hopefully Sonia Kruger doesn't break out the racial gear,' one person tweeted after her win.

'How she continues to get work on Australian TV is the most disappointing thing about the industry,' another added.
