Madonna and her son David Banda touched down in JFK Airport on Wednesday. 

The singer, 64, cut a low-key figure while flanked by her adopted child, 17, as they landed in New York in the wake of her terrifying health scare, in which she suffered a bacterial infection that sent her to the ICU.

After stating she 'realised how lucky she is to be alive', the star looked in rude health following her flight and while in the arms of her son. 

On Sunday, Madonna applauded her children for stepping up for her during her time of need after a health scare forced her to cancel her world tour.

The star, who is also mother to In addition to Lourdes, 26, Rocco, 22, Mercy, 17, and Stella and Estere, 10, wrote: 'Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect'.

The pop music icon - who fell ill in June - shared a trio of photos with her 19million followers, along with a heartfelt caption, as she reflected on the past month since her hospitalization.

One snapshot showed her with her firstborn child, Lourdes Leon, 26, who flashed a peace sign while posing with her beloved mother.

Another image featured the artist hugging David.

The caption continued, 'As a Mother you can really get caught up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving……….. But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me.'
