Fans have been joking that Janelle Monáe upstaged the Queen of Halloween Heidi Klum this year.

The singer, 37, stole the limelight by dressing up as a chameleon in an incredible full-body transformation costume. 

Heidi is famed for 'winning Halloween' with her ensembles and this year went as a peacock with huge entourage for her annual star-studded bash Heidiween.

But Janelle is hot on her heels after impressing with her animal-inspired outfit which featured a full scale suit, tail and prosthetic head. 

Those on Twitter have now said she upstaged Heidi as one wrote: 'Janelle Monáe is really coming for Heidi Klum for best Halloween costumes.'

Another said: 'Heidi Klum has handed the baton over.'

A third wrote: 'Janelle Monáe Heidi Klum.' 

Someone else penned: 'Janelle Monae is trying to give Heidi Klum some Halloween costume competition…' 

A fifth said: 'Coming for Heidi Klum's Halloween crown with this one!'

Heidi did not disappoint with her Halloween costume, as she made a grand entrance at her 22nd annual Heidiween celebration, held at the Marquee in New York, on Tuesday.

The German supermodel, 50, wore an elaborate peacock costume that was supported by a total of 10 people. 

Heidi's portion of the costume consisted of a tight blue velvet bodysuit and a face covering with a yellow beak and a bedazzled head. Atop her head was a feathered embellishment.

The runway phenomenon — who dressed up as a creepy ribbed red worm at last year's celebrations — stood on top of a similarly dressed member of her entourage, who formed the bottom half of the dramatic look.

Heidi was also joined by her husband Tom Kaulitz, 34, who was dressed as a large white egg, and daughter Leni Klum, 19, who showed off her incredible figure in a racy pink outfit.
