James Blunt has shared the emotional inspiration behind his new song The Girl That Never Was before performing it on This Morning.
The singer-songwriter, 49, and wife Sophie, 40, who live primarily in Ibiza, married in 2014, and are parents to two sons. However, the couple tragically lost their baby daughter.
James spoke openly about his personal life with hosts Josie Gibson and Rylan Clark during Wednesday's show.
Speaking about a song he wrote on family life, he said: 'I write songs about the people I need to look after. I'm married to an amazing person and we have aspirations to start a family, some of those aspirations we have achieved and others we haven't.
'There's battles with loss we struggle with. I deal with it by writing songs about it. One of those songs is called The Girl That Never Was.'

In a recent interview with The Sun, James insisted his wife is to blame for his busy lifestyle.
The singer splits his time between London and Ibiza, and explained that although people always ask him when he will settle down, he is just trying to keep up with his wife, Sofia.
'And I'm lucky to have met someone who worked at a higher tempo than me and instead of settling down, I had to speed up.
'I wish I could say I was still in the Ibiza clubs all the time.
'But maybe that's why I've put a nightclub at the end of my garden, so that the 30-yard stumble back to my bed is more manageable.'
The pair have been married since 2014 and in 2018 they saved their local pub in Chelsea, The Fox and Pheasant from closing down.
The star joked that it is in the license agreement that no James Blunt music can be played.
Elsewhere during his This Morning interview, James was promoting his new album, tour and book.
He said: 'If everyone just buys everything I will finally give up and leave the country you won't hear from me again I promise.
Speaking on creating the new album, James jokingly said: 'David Guetta was in the studio next door in Ibiza so I was just ripping him off as I went.'
