Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes sees primates rule the world while humans ... trends now

The first action-packed trailer for the hugely anticipated Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes was released on Thursday - ahead of it's May 2024 release.

The latest movie in the sci-fi franchise follows 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, and Caesar's reign with primates now the dominant species and humans forced to live in the shadows.

As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, Caesar's son (played by IT's Owen Teague) goes against his kind and takes on a harrowing journey to help the humans.

The trailer features jaw-dropping stunts and incredible special effects as the actors are once again transformed into monkey's via motion capture.

Directed by The Maze Runner's Wes Ball, the film also stars Kevin Durand, Freya Allan and William H. Macy.

Lord of The Rings' Andy Serkis played Caesar in 2011's Rise of The Planet of the Apes, 2014's Dawn of the Planet of The Apes as well as War of the Planet of the Apes in 2017.
