Recent research has uncovered a 28 percent heightened risk of drownings related to swimming or bathing during heatwaves.
Because of this, 38-year-old Trickett has urged Australians to 'take water responsibility and water safety really seriously.'

'Speaking from experience, a few years ago, my youngest daughter, she slipped into the pool.'
'My husband was there with her and my eldest daughter and he turned his back to help my eldest for, you know, 20 seconds, and my youngest slipped into the water,' she explained.
'He didn't hear her. The only reason that he (eventually) heard her was because she managed to get a little head above the water and, you know, kind of gasps for air.
'He was right there, he was within arm's reach, you know, doing all of the "right things" but you get distracted for one second and it happens really, really quickly.'
