Katie Holmes enjoys solo stroll in chic tan coat, comfy sweats and sneakers in ... trends now

Katie Holmes opted for stylish comfort as she stepped out for a nighttime stroll in New York City on Thursday. 

The Dawson's Creek alum, 45 - who recently turned heads at the Roundabout Theatre Company's 2024 Gala - was seen making her way through the bustling streets of the Big Apple while sipping on a water bottle. 

The actress kept it casual while sporting a pair of gray sweatpants as well as a fashionable, tan coat to help her stay warm in the cooler temperatures. 

Holmes slipped into a pair of $120 PONY sneakers with colorful details that were easily secured with laces. 

A large, black leather bag was placed over her right shoulder to hold items she needed during the excursion.  

Her brunette locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in natural waves. 

She accessorized her look by wearing a pair of black shades but opted to not add any other flashy pieces of jewelry. 

At one point during the outing, Katie was spotted carrying a black, plastic bag in her right hand. 

While talking to Glamour last year in April, the First Daughter actress opened about her sense of style - especially as someone who is often in the spotlight. 

'I think we all want our sweats,' the mother-of-one told the outlet. 'It's a funny world because the culture of celebrity and the access that exists now could be quite a distraction from who the person is.' 

'I'm an actor, so people say, "Oh, do you think about what you wear before you go to the grocery store?" No, because it's not my job.' 

'You know what I mean? But yesterday, going and doing a talk show is part of my job. So yes, that's put together.' 

Also during the interview, Holmes expressed to the publication, 'I enjoy [fashion]. I mean, I enjoy the craftsmanship. I enjoy putting things together.'
