Paul O'Grady's daughter Sharyn Mousley has recalled her colourful childhood for an upcoming ITV tribute to the entertainer, one year after his tragic death.

Sharyn, 48, was born after Paul had a brief relationship with then work colleague Diane Jansen, now 76, in the early 1970s.

And in her first major TV interview for the documentary, The Life and Death of Lily Savage, she gives an insight into life with the beloved TV star and his alter ego.

Admitting that while she wasn't allowed to see Lily on stage as a youngster, due to the drag character's raunchy humour, Sharyn would often try on her now iconic bottle blonde wig and strut about in the heels.

She also shared one memory of her father's unique attempts to entertain at her seventh birthday party.

'This was in my mum’s little flat and there were all scorch marks on the ceiling, and all the girls were screaming, ‘It’s a fire, it’s a fire!’.
