Grammy Award winning artist James Bay has opened up about his career and the impact of travelling for work.

The 'Hold Back the River' hitmaker, 33, openly discussed the toll of leaving his two-year-old daughter behind with The Daily Telegraph.

'I am starkly aware that I disappear for a living... disappear from a child's life, who I brought into the world and I want to be here and who wants me around,' the English hitmaker said.

'That is big stuff. It is a really tough thing to navigate.'

The singer and his wife, Lucy Smith, welcomed their daughter Ada Violet in October 2021.

Known for global chart toppers Let It Go and Hold Back The River, the 33-year-old also revealed that he despite desiring a successful song, he doesn't 'chase' hits. 

'Chasing a hit is incredibly unhealthy.
