Louise Thompson has praised her fiancé Ryan Libbey for prioritising his mental health and 'fleeing the nest for peace and solitude.'

The former Made In Chelsea star, 33, spent two weeks in hospital last month after losing 'cups of blood' due to Ulcerative Colitis while in Antigua on a family holiday.

Following her discharge after the 12-day stint, Louise was then admitted to hospital three times in one week over extreme pains, ultrasounds and check ins.

She is now back home recovering with her partner Ryan, who has been looking after her and their son Leo, two.

Sharing an update to Instagram on Thursday, Louise explained how Ryan has gone on holiday to Devon as he has been 'carrying some weight on his shoulders.'

Alongside a series of photos, she wrote: 'Ryan has fled the nest and gone on a long ‘longed for’ trip away - He’s driven to the North coast of Devon in an attempt to find peace and solitude and to try to learn how to surf.

'Over the last couple of weeks we’ve both racked our brains to search for things that might make us more ‘happy’ and his brain has taken him to some nostalgic activities from his childhood, namely watching his cousin surf in Devon.

'Interestingly my brain took me to playing Mario Party on a Nintendo Switch. I’m not sure what that says about me, where I’m at in my life or my recovery.

'Anyway, he has impressed me with his effort and endeavour to prioritise his MH. There is no doubt that trauma affects the whole family and he’s been carrying some weight on his shoulders for a while now.

'I like to think i’m relatively relaxed in our relationship, especially when it comes to making separate plans and I’m genuinely really happy that we’ve been able to make the trip work for both his sake and mine.

'His happiness = a better relationship. He always comes back actually liking me as a person again. And I like him more too. It also signifies that I’m doing well.

'The funny part to this story is that he had organised for my dad to stay at our house whilst he’s away... without me knowing. So my dad is very kindly staying over in our spare room ‘in case anything happens’ because apparently living 2 miles along the river is too far! And my brother lives next door. And my mum lives 2 streets away. But this is all very cute.

'It’s also particularly funny because I never have people to stay. Least of all my parents. Especially given that they live in London. In fact they’ve never stayed over. EVER. And I never thought they would. But it’s such a display of love and devotion.'

She continued: 'And it’s lovely that he wants to spend some extra time with Leo. Plus I don’t have a car so if it were to rain (don’t want to jinx it because i’m really lapping up the blue skies today) it would be a bit of a wet walk to nursery and back. Scrap that I would get SOAKED.

'Just had a thought whilst writing this... if I hadn’t been ill, my dad would never have stayed at my house. There would be no need. I'd never invite him for a mini break schlepping down the road. But it's joyful. So this feels like a little blessing.'
