'It wouldn't have been possible without my wife, she made the process as smooth as possible for me.'

Dylan admitted it has been difficult dealing with online trolling, particularly following his win.

'It's been so hard, especially today. The other two girls [Amy and Denvah] have support, which I am so pleased for, but it's been difficult,' he explained.

'But that's reality TV, there's always going to be hate and people with something negative to say. It's a real shame. Some of the other contestants have had some really nasty things sent to them.'

He was quick to add he has also received lots of support online from his fans, and would prefer to focus on that rather than any negativity.

Dylan, a painter and decorator, also looked ahead to how his life is going to change and said he now plans to pursue music as a full-time career and tour Australia.

'I watched Australian Idol as a kid, I've listened to the artists for years and played their songs at gigs and weddings. This year it was my last shot, as the cut-off is at 30, so I just decided to go for it!'

Dylan also reflected on reducing the usually
