Sheridan is at the start of a 21-week stretch in the new show, which is based on the namesake 1977 film about the actress who is left traumatised by the death of a teenage fan.

While Sheridan is now one of London's biggest, best and most versatile actresses, she hasn't always had it this good.

Her past has been flanked by her own demons since losing her father, Colin, after he passed away in 2016.

She was in a string of public meltdowns involving alcohol, anxiety, public outrages, angry social media postings and intoxicated late-night rantings.

Sheridan's chaotic lifestyle choices almost called the curtain on her career in 2016 when she was starring in Funny Girl at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

There were reports of missed curtain calls and slurred words. And on April 28, the producer pulled the curtain down on his superstar just 15 minutes into the show.

She made the decision to quit alcohol as she ‘fell apart completely’ in recent months following years of offstage troubles.

She also admitted that a joke made by Graham Norton during the 2016 BAFTA Awards about her onstage antics in a West End production of Funny Girl was what 'tipped her over the edge'.
