Former Channel Seven Sunrise reporter Bianca Stone's shock career change has ... trends now

Bianca Stone has made a shock career change shortly after nabbing a fill-in role as a radio host.

The former Sunrise reporter, who left Channel Seven after 18 years, is reportedly running as a political candidate at Queensland's state election in October.

Currently serving as fill-in afternoon host at 4BC radio in Brisbane, Stone has 'put her hand up to run against (housing minister) Meaghan Scanlon in the Gold Coast seat of Gaven at the next election', 9News Queensland reports.

'It's understood Bianca Stone has significant support in the party's parliamentary wing in what would be a tough fight against the housing minister who is one of Labor's star performers,' Tim Arvier reported during the 6pm news last week.

'It is worth noting that Stone has been a performer for a long time in Brisbane TV and radio and it will be very interesting to see how this plays out.'

Meanwhile, Nine Radio managing director Tom Malone and 4BC's content boss Holly Green are 'concerned' having a potential political candidate hosting their weekday afternoon timeslot.

According to The Australian, Stone's radio role is now 'under consideration' amid her career change into politics.

TV Blackbox co-editor Rob McKnight will instead be filling in for the first week of the radio ratings break, followed by Greg Cary the week after.

Stone handed in her resignation last year following 18 years at Channel Seven.
