Grey's Anatomy is set to return to primetime television on ABC after being renewed for season 21.
The hit medical drama - which first began airing nearly 20 years earlier in 2005 - is currently under the realm of showrunner, Meg Marinis, who took on the big role for the show's current 20th season, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Marinis joined Grey's Anatomy's production during its third season as a writer's production assistant, and worked her way up over the years.
Shonda Rimes - who created the series - expressed in a statement, 'The loyalty and love of Grey's Anatomy fans has propelled us into a historic 21st season, and I could not be more grateful.'
'Meg Marinis' storytelling is a gift that continues to keep the show vibrant, compelling and alive, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for next season.'

Season 20 began airing last month in March, and only consists of 10 episodes due to last year's SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
However, according to Deadline, the upcoming season is slated to have a total of 18 episodes. The cast for season 21 has yet to be announced and confirmed.
Ellen Pompeo - who is one of the original cast members of the drama - notably exited the show before the current season, but still appears in four episodes.
The actress previously commented on the exit from her leading role on "The Drew Barrymore Show. 'I gotta mix it up a little bit.'
She added that her, 'brain is like scrambled eggs. I gotta do something new. You can't do The New York Times crossword puzzle every single day...'
The current stars of the show include fellow original castmates Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr., as well as Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, Camilla Luddington, Caterina Scorsone, Anthony Hill and Alexis Floyd.
Grey's Anatomy aired its first episode in 2005, with some original cast including Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh and Katherine Heigl.
The show became a successful series and is currently ABC's longest-running scripted primetime show on the network.
