Drew Barrymore has confirmed that Happy Gilmore 2 is in the works, revealing that Adam Sandler has written a sequel to the 1996 sports comedy.
The child actress-turned talk show host, 49, was thrilled when Christopher McDonald - who portrayed Shooter McGavin in the original film - recently hinted that the sequel was happening.
Discussing the subject in a preview clip her talk show, Drew explained how she had texted her Fifty First Dates co-star Adam Sandler, 57, to find out if it he'd written a new screenplay.
The actress said: 'Are you kidding me? I want it. I need it and I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison.
'And then I sent Sandler a video of that and then he sent me another video back and I'm waiting to see if he's confirming about the Happy Gilmore 2 script...
