Love Island's Dr Alex George gave a health update on Sunday after spending his week in and out of hospital.

The Love Island star, 33, took to Instagram to say he was back home and 'feeling more like himself' - after rushing to A&E after contracting tonsillitis earlier this week.

After an initial admission to hospital he was discharged before having to rush back a second time which he admitted made his 'spirit feel a bit broken'.

But he penned in an update on Sunday as he posed in a snap with beloved dog Rolo: 'Glad to be home and feeling more like myself!

'Very much taking it easy, just so nice to enjoy simple things like a little walk with Rolo in the sunshine.

'Thanks for all the support over the last week or so, I feel very grateful. Now back to the sofa for some F1 and football binging. Have a lovely Sunday everyone x.'

On Thursday he went back to hospital for a second time.

Alex explained that despite having two procedures and receiving a steroid treatment on Monday, his throat had begun to swell up and worsen again, as he confessed he was finding it hard to stay positive.

Updating his followers he wrote: 'Spirit feels a bit broken writing this but sadly I had to come back to A&E this morning, throat was swelling up and getting worse.

'Breathing is ok but that's always the big worry. Really want to be positive but I haven't slept in a week, hardly eaten with pain and fevers.

'I know there are so many worse off than me and I am doing my best to be grateful and positive but yeh, can't always be I guess.'

Alex went on to thank the health professionals for all their support as he shared a snap of himself from the hospital bed hooked up to a machine with cannulas in his arm.

He continued: 'The doctors and nurses have been so kind and caring, thank you. Just got to roll with punches now and I will be better soon.
