Jelly Roll was floored by the country performance of 15-year-old Triston Harper's on Monday's two-hour episode of American Idol's Disney week in Hawaii on ABC.

'Triston has the voice of a man that's been through a lifetime of pain, and he's only 15-years-old,' Jelly Roll, 39, said. ' I really believe this kid could be something special '

Triston a high school student from McIntosh, Alabama, picked God's Country by Blake Shelton to perform. During rehearsals, Triston shared with Jelly Roll a video of him singing one his songs at his 9th grade talent show. Triston couldn't believe he was getting advice and tips from his idol.

'Triston I told you yesterday that you were singing to Luke Bryan,' Jelly Roll said after his performance. 'He beat me out of my chair. You are the youngest man with the oldest soul I've ever met in my life. You have a swagger that at 15-years-old you don't even know you have! You can win this competition, young man!'

Triston was one the 12 of the top 24 contestants who performed during the night at a Disney Aulani resort in Hawaii.

Jelly Roll, CMA's best artist of the year joined the panel this episode and served as a mentor. Platinum ticket winner Odell Burton Jr., 28, from Arlington, Texas, was the first contestant of the night and told Jelly Roll how much he inspired him.

Odell sang Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk. Jelly Roll encouraged him to let loose and not hold back. When he finished, Jelly Roll was impressed.

'I think it was absolutely incredible,' Jelly Roll said. 'When you smelt the popcorn popping and the concession stand was open you delivered on a big platform.'

'The best thing about it is you put your stamp on an iconic song,' Luke Bryan, 47, said.

Elleigh Marie Francom, 20, who first auditioned when she was 16, from Utah, picked a CeeLo Green song Forget You to sing. She told Jelly Roll that she picked this song because she had been cheated on.

'It was a great, great performance,' Lionel Richie, 74, said.

'Wow did you show up and it really mattered,' Jelly Roll said.

Mackenzie Sol, 23, a TikTok star known for his funny videos, from Las Vegas, picked a Nick Jonas' song Jealous but said he was going to make it his own. Jelly Roll encouraged him to warm up his voice before he tried to hit some of the song's notes.

'That voice is incredible and I expect the state of Mississippi to be losing its mind,' Jelly Roll said.

'I think you are in that process of changing into the diamond that we know that you are,' Katy said.

Jelly Roll then took the stage and sang his new hit Halfway to Hell and the crowd went wild.

Host Ryan Seacrest asked him after what it meant to him to be able to mentor the contestants.

'I think I come from a place where I spent so long destroying that now I just want to build up. It was so hard to change my life. And everyone of these kids have a chance right now, tonight to change their life if these people out there vote.'

Emmy Russell, 25, from Nashville, picked Beautiful Things by Benson Boone as her song. Emmy cried and shook during rehearsals because of her nerves.

'Not only do I have a vision of you going into the Top 20, I have a vision of you doing a song where you are walking from one side of the stage to the other with no fear,' Jelly Roll said.
