The animated science fiction-comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks will not return following the end of its upcoming fifth season.
The news about the program was revealed by the show's creator Mike McMahan and executive producer Alex Kurtzman in a note that was posted on Star Trek's official website on Friday.
The pair penned a lengthy note in order to both confirm the news about the entry in the Star Trek franchise and to express hope that its characters could return in sone form in the future.
Kurtzman and McMahan began the note by showing their gratitude to the show's creative team for their efforts.
'While five seasons of any series these days seems like a miracle, it's no exaggeration to say that every second we've spent making this show has been a dream come true,' they wrote.
