Two Bargain Hunt contestants where left in hysterics when one of their items made an unexpected profit at auction during Monday's episode.

The blue team - nurse Joe and his wife Mhari - were seen scouring the stalls at antiques fairs and car boot sales in a bid to find items they thought they could sell on in a bid to make more profit than the red team.

They had a disappointing start at auction towards the end of the instalment after a quaint clock they had purchased for £99 only made £50 under the hammer.

However, their spirits were lifted when a cast iron toilet roll holder proved popular with bidders.

The £15 item flew at auction, prompting Joe to exclaim: 'No way!'

Watching from the side of the room an excited Mhari shouted: 'Come on!', as the bits kept coming in.

The auctioneer joked that the couple were 'on a roll' as the bids rose to £32.

Turning to his wife, Joe laughed: 'You're joking! They've gone mad,' as the hammer dropped, meaning they made £17 profit.

Viewers were just as stunned, with some taking to social media to express their surprise.

One person wrote on Twitter: '[They're] a tenner on Amazon.'

While someone else shared: 'Ridiculous price for the bog roll holder.'

'The toilet roll holder are for sale all over the Internet at £10 each,' wrote another viewer.

And someone else joked: 'Somebody must be flush with cash.'

They went on to sell a set of six ornate buttons for £110 at auction which they had bought earlier for £49.

After being convinced to take a gamble by expert John Cameron an ornate inkwell shaped like a stove, buying it for £40, it sold for £30 at auction, meaning they made a £10 loss.

However, they made a profit overall, meaning they triumphed over the red team.

It comes after two Bargain Hunt red team members were left speechless by a hefty mystery buy from Roo Irvine that managed to save them from a massive loss.

Letting out a huge gasp, red team members Sasha and Marian couldn't help but say 'wow' when they opened their eyes
