Ana de Armas fans and Universal Pictures settle bizarre false advertising ... trends now

Two years after two fans sued Universal Pictures for using actress Ana de Armas in a trailer for the 2019 movie Yesterday and cutting her from the film, the case has been officially settled.

Peter Rosza and Conor Woulfe sued Universal Pictures in 2022, claiming they had spent $3.99 to rent Yesterday after seeing the 35-year-old actress in a trailer.

Despite appearing in the trailer, her role was cut entirely from the film, leading Rosza and Woulfe to sue the studio for $5 million for false advertising.

Rosza and Woulfe actually did score one legal victory, with a judge allowing the case to move forward in December 2022, though now it's settled, via Variety.

No terms of the settlement were disclosed and it's unclear if any money actually changed hands, despite the huge amounts both sides were asking for.

Brazilian actress de Armas was initially set to play a woman vying for Jack's affections, who appeared in a brief role late in the movie.

While scenes shot with de Armas were used in the trailer, director Danny Boyle ultimately decided to cut the character altogether after her arc failed to connect with test screening audiences.

Brazilian actress de Armas did not appear in the finished film, which earned a solid $154.6 million worldwide from a $26 million budget.

Both the plaintiffs said they spent $3.98 to rent the film on Amazon Prime in January 2022, in hopes of seeing de Armas, but those hopes were dashed when they
