Freddie Flintoff has secured a new series on the BBC following his horror Top Gear car crash just over a year ago.

The former cricketer, 46, was involved in a near-fatal crash that left him with serious injuries while filming the driving show in December 2022

According to new reports, Freddie, who has just wrapped up filming his cricket show Field Of Dreams series two, will be back for a third series.

Series two in India potentially will air later this year or early 2025, leaving Freddie well set to stay on with the BBC until 2026.

A TV insider told The Sun: 'This shows that Freddie isn’t just happy to return to the show, which is very close to his heart, but also that he’s quite happy to continue working long-term on programmes for the Beeb.

'It’s understood that, in addition to making the third series, he’s also considering a string of other projects they have offered him, but he’s taking his time and considering them all carefully.'

MailOnline have contacted the BBC for a comment. 

Field Of Dreams sees Freddie return to his home town to attempt to inspire some unlikely teens to get into cricket.

The BBC announced in October 2022 that the series would be commissioned for a sequel however there were no updates after Freddie's crash - however earlier this month he was seen filming for the show in India

Freddie was 'lucky to be alive' after his is open-topped three-wheel 130mph Morgan Super 3 car, which had no air bags, flipped over in December 2022, leaving him with severe facial injuries and several broken ribs. 

Following the near-fatal crash, the BBC announced that it would pause Top Gear - and in November last year it was rested for the 'foreseeable future'.

But fans were relieved earlier this month when he looked to be on the mend as he displayed his healing facial injuries while filming Field Of Dreams in India
