There are calls for The Block to be cancelled after producers were criticised for focusing on 'drama' rather than the renovations of the homes. 

While this season of the Channel Nine show is yet to air, photos from a promotional shoot have all but confirmed one team has already left.

Now viewers of the renovation program have taken to social media to complain about the direction the once beloved series has taken and are calling for the program to be axed.

It comes after last year's season was fraught with drama, constant squabbles and bullying among the Blockheads. 

'It's had its day, time to can it,' one user wrote.

'It appears people don't have enough drama in their lives and need to watch crap on TV to fill the empty space in their lives,' another viewer commented. 

'Drama building...not house building...'

'It's pathetic eh. Should rename the show 'The Drama'... and NOT The Block,' a user agreed.

'It's because the producers think we want drama in it, it's about the reno and who makes the best house.' 

Earlier this month, the Channel Nine reality show was rocked by rumours one a team had already walked off the job two weeks into filming.
