The BBC are giving an acclaimed drama a second series after two years off screens following rave reviews.

Scottish murder mystery Granite Harbour was a BBC iPlayer favourite at its debut in 2022, racking up more than seven million streams for its three, hour-long episodes.

The series centres around Lance Corporal Davis Lindo (Romario Simpson), a new recruit to Police Scotland who arrived in Aberdeen from Jamaica.

Series two is being launched at 10pm on Thursday, May 2 on BBC Scotland, and the following day on BBC One.

Alternatively, all three episodes will be available to binge on BBC iPlayer from the second it is released.

In the first season, the new Detective Constable found himself straight in at the deep end after a headline-grabbing murder of a local oil magnate -found dead as his company merged with a renewables firm.

Lance, alongside his new mentor, DCI Lara 'Bart' Bartlett (Hannah Donaldson) - a sharp, streetwise Aberdonian who is used to working alone - were tasked with finding the criminal.

Filming on the new season, which will also consist of three parts, began in October 2023 and concluded shortly after, having been renewed last August.

The synopsis for the first installment of season two reads: 'When drug kingpin Grace McFadden's (Lesley Hart) notorious fixer turns up dead, the MIT have their work cut out to find the source of a new cocaine and ketamine compound flooding the streets.

'Fearing an impending drugs turf war is brewing, the team fight to uncover the truth.

'To complicate things, Lindo investigates the case of pregnant stowaway Mariam, who claims her partner was killed on their journey across the sea.
