Jennifer Hudson shares throwback from American Idol elimination 20 years ... trends now
Jennifer Hudson reflected on her American Idol elimination that took place 20 years earlier - which eventually led the star on a journey to achieve her current EGOT status.
The talk show host, 42 - who recently reunited with her Dreamgirls co-star Beyonce - shared a throwback clip on Instagram on Sunday that showed her exit from the competition series.
The actress and singer notably competed on the show's third season which aired back in 2004.
In the reel, Hudson could be seen standing alongside fellow contestant Fantasia Barrino - who recently starred in the critically acclaimed film: The Color Purple (2023).
However, while Barrino made it through to the next level, Jennifer did not - leaving the live audience as well as the judges in shock.

Both Fantasia and Jennifer fell into a tight embrace while sharing an emotional moment on the stage. At one point, Barrino could be heard telling Hudson, 'You are my American Idol!'
Despite the elimination, Jennifer penned to her fans and followers that the moment only led her on a journey to being an EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).
'On this day in 2004, I was eliminated from American Idol! But God turned it around for my good!' she positively reminisced.
'From Idol to EGOT baby!!! 20 years later, and now back on TV with my own show,' the beauty wrote, while adding, 'Never give up on your dreams, yal!'
'If I can do it, so can u! If it's not worth working hard for, it's not worth it at all! Remember nobody knows your potential the way you do. Just keep the faith, keep believing, and keep going!!!'
Social media users jumped to the comment section to also share their thoughts on the 20th anniversary of her elimination.
