Jess Glynne was surprised with an award for achieving a billion streams in the UK by her proud parents during a private listening party.

The singer, 34, was performing her new album for her family and friends when her father Lawrence and mother Alex, surprised her on stage.

A video obtained by MailOnline shows the moment her parents interrupted her set to hand her the accolade, as she joins an elite group of successful artists.

As they walked towards her, Jess said: 'Mum and dad! What's going on?'

Her mum Alex explained that they were very proud to present her with the Brit Billion award, as Jess replied: 'Brit billion! She's got a billion streams!'

Lawrence said: 'This award is an acknowledgement for an exclusive number of artists who have had over a billion streams in the UK. And you are among that group of elite artists who have achieved that.' 

'It makes us immensely proud and this album is going to go up there!'

Jess has won the prestigious BRIT billion award for achieving over 1 billion streams in the UK. 

Ed Sheeran was the first person to receive the award, since then it has been given to the likes of ABBA, Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding.

The Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter released her last single, Enough, in February.

The single features on her new album JESS, which was released on April 26 via EMI Records.

Written in Los Angeles and produced with Adele hitmaker Greg Kurstin, Enough is an optimistic track detailing Jess' relationship with self-worth and acceptance.

Speaking about thee single, Jess said: 'Enough is the first song that I knew was 100% going on the album. I wrote it in 2020 when I was going through a lot in my life.
